Types of chargers for LEVC TX Taxis

Utilizing industry-leading charging capabilities, the TX taxi is simple to charge. You can use both CHAdeMO and Type 2/CCS charging ports to power up your electric vehicle. Sounds confusing, we know – but we’re here to simplify things!

This gives you greater usability and choice, meaning there are plenty of ways to charge your TX when you’re out and about. With the UK’s 35,000-strong public charging network, you’ll never be short of power when you need it.

There are three main compatible connectors you can use to charge your TX taxi. Both the CCS DC Charging and CHAdeMO DC rapid chargers deliver an output of up to 50kW, getting you back on the road in no time. The Type 2 AC charger on the other hand offers up to 22kW power.

As each charging connector offers charging at varying speeds, the charging time also varies.

  • AC home (domestic socket) 3kW - Provides a charge from 0-80% within 8 hours, and from 0-100% in 10 hours
  • AC wall box 7kW - Charges the TX from 0-80% in 3 hours, and from 0-100% within 3 hours 35 minutes

There are four main types of chargers available: slow, fast, rapid, and ultra-rapid.

Home charging for LEVC TX Taxis

Charging your LEVC TX taxi at home is the easiest and most cost-effective way. Using a ‘Smart’ home charger, you can reap all the benefits of flexible home charging. Schedule your charging for off-peak times for cheaper rates. This will be provided with your TX, so you’ll be all-set for home charging whenever needed.

The LEVC estimates that the cost for charging at the national electricity price (12p per kW) is approximately £3 for a full charge. When scheduling charging around off-peak energy tariffs, this could lower the cost even further.

On-street charging for LEVC TX Taxis

Charging the LEVC TX while on the go is also easy, with several public charging points at your service.

In as little as 30 minutes - practically a lunch break - you can recharge the TX up to 80%, providing you with 50 miles of electric range. This will help to give you a top-up whenever needed, helping you to avoid range anxiety.

The LEVC TX sets itself apart from other electrically driven vehicles, featuring dual on-board inverter chargers. The smart chargers allow you to utilise the full charging rate available. You can use all the available current to recharge your battery quicker.

With most of the public charging points being either fast or rapid chargers, you’re sure to be back on the road in no time.

Finding a public charger for your LEVC TX Taxi

LEVC have partnered with Zap-Map - one of the UK’s leading public charging network providers - to help make finding a charge point easier than ever.

Using an interactive map in a web browser or with an IOS or Android app, you can browse your nearest charging points when on the move, view connector types and charging speeds, and plan ahead of your visit.

LEVC are also working to install dedicated taxi-only charge points with the help of local authorities and government regulators. The public charging network is only set to improve further - especially for taxi drivers!

Remember, you’ll still have your range extender to help you along the way as you get used to your LEVC TX. This is a small 1.5-litre petrol engine which you can switch to in order to preserve your charge for later use, or when making longer journeys. It’s just like a normal car!
