"The MG ZS 1.0T GDi Excite is what happens when you want the raised driving position and decent boot space of an SUV, but you're not really interested in paying for a proper SUV. It's compact, it's affordable, and most importantly, it won't make you feel guilty every time you fill up the tank. It's the Goldilocks of crossovers�it's just right, but without any of the heavy-duty off-roading bits. Under the bonnet, there's a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Don't let that small number fool you�it has a punchy 111 horsepower, which means it can move, even if it's not exactly going to win any races. But that's not the point. The point is, it feels zippy around town. It's light, agile, and feels more like a large hatchback than an SUV. The 6-speed manual gearbox is slick and easy to use, and the steering? Well, it's not going to win any awards, but it's perfectly adequate for keeping you on the straight and narrow."
