Taxi Fare Increase Drives Generous Donation To Beatson Cancer Charity
The generosity of The Taxi Centre and Digitax has been ‘hailed’ by Beatson Cancer Charity after the businesses donated £1,700.
The charitable fare was collected from local taxi drivers who were having their meters updated at The Taxi Centre following a recent increase in taxi fare rates in Glasgow.
The Taxi Centre, which has supplied vehicles to the trade for more than 20 years, hosted the taximeters and fleet management solutions company, Digitax, which updated the vehicles after the two businesses agreed to donate the profits to Beatson Cancer Charity.
Paul Armstrong from Digitax, who carried out much of the work himself, has a personal connection with Beatson Cancer Charity after receiving support during his own battle with the disease.
Paul said: "Beatson was there for me during one of the toughest times in my life. Their support was invaluable, providing not just medical care but also emotional and psychological support. Being able to give back in this way means the world to me. It's a small token of appreciation for the immense help they provided me and countless others."
James Welsh, LEVC Sales Manager at The Taxi Centre, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative: "We are thrilled to have partnered with Digitax on this project. It's fantastic to see the taxi community come together to support such a worthy cause, as they always do.
“The response from the drivers has been overwhelmingly positive, and it's heartening to see everyone rallying together to make a difference. There’s a very strong community spirit within the trade. I’ve always found drivers to be very charitable people who go out of their way to help people during their time of need.”
