The LEVC TX Icon is a revolutionary taxi, tailored for the demands of modern city transport.
Seating up to six passengers, the TX Icon provides an array of features including automatic windscreen wipers, a heated rear-windscreen, automatic LED headlights, a 9-inch touchscreen interface, cruise control, and air pollution sensor.
To make your taxi accessible to all, you can also purchase the wheelchair accessibility pack, which includes a wheelchair ramp, intermediate step, and swivel seat.
Always electrically driven, the Icon is built to deliver a smoother, more efficient drive with zero emissions. Equipped with eCity technology, this allows for increased range to help eliminate 'range anxiety', helping you to get your passengers where they want to go.
The Icon features a Range Extender- a 1.5 litre petrol engine to enable more flexible driving and greater efficiency. The Range-Extender tops up the Drive Battery when required, acting as a power source to help extend the driving range. This provides the Icon with a total flexible range of about 333 miles*, with a pure electric range of 78 miles**.
With three driving modes, the Icon helps you tailor your drive to maximise efficiency, whatever the journey. Pure EV mode uses electric power only to produce a zero-emissions drive, which is great for driving in the city. All LEVC vehicles utilise eCity technology, which combines an electric powertrain with a 1.5-litre petrol engine (also known as a Range Extender) to enhance your driving range. This includes the TX Vista model. Is the LEVC TX a petrol or a diesel?
Technically, it's neither. The LEVC TX is a Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV), consisting of an electric battery and motor, and a small petrol engine.
Is the LEVC TX taxi fully electric?
No - the LEVC TX taxi is not fully electric due to the range extender inside. This acts as a reserve to help maintain the battery level, kicking in once this starts to deplete. The TX is therefore classed as a form of hybrid vehicle, and although it always electrically driven it is not fully electric.
When was LEVC founded?
LEVC began in 1908 with taxi dealers JJ Mann and Tom Overton, who started importing vehicles to Britain exclusively for the taxi trade. The duo designed a special cab in response to new Conditions of Fitness regulations, which soon became the most popular cab in the city at the time.
Where is the LEVC TX manufactured?
The LEVC TX is made at the company's Ansty factory in Coventry, UK. In March 2023, the facility celebrated achieving a major milestone of producing 10,000 vehicles.
